My Story

“I grew up “sitting” for my mother who would carve my likeness out of bars of Ivory Snow soap while dinner was cooking. As a young child I would accompany her to the painting studio and absorb the paints and the people. Later, I would come home after school and to my horror find nude models posing in the living room.

Art was not just something you bought. Art was something you did.”

Phyllis Lipman

I have been very fortunate in my art career to have worked with Canadian greats from Alex Colville to Greg Curnoe; to have sold art to David Hockney and Vincent Price, and to have collaborated with so many talented artists in my publishing company and art galleries. I count many artists I have worked with as dear friends and everything I have learned about art I have learned from the artists and clients I have met.

If You Are an Artist

How to become Lipman artist.

If you're interested in becoming a Lipman artist, one approach is to look carefully at our current publications to see if your art would be a good fit. Our website and IG showcase a range of art styles and mediums featured in the Wayfair SRB’s. We look for artists who bring originality and craftsmanship to their work. Take some time to analyze our current publications and see if your art aligns with our aesthetics.
If you think you are a fit we are always keeping an eye on new talent.

If You Are a Collector

Lipman publications are available on the Wayfair site sorted by the Specialty Brands, Allmodern, Joss and Main and Birch Lane. Usually just cross referencing an artist by name and title in the main Wayfair site will bring you to the place you want to be.
We do not sell directly on this website, but if you are having trouble finding an image or an artist do not hesitate to email us and we will help you out.

If you are interested in collaborating

I have always believed that 2 heads are better than one.
There are only so many hours in a day and when the project is right, the synergy a collaboration brings makes not just for great work, but often for great friendships as well.

Ideas are always welcome.
