ABOUT THE PRINTS

What is a limited edition print

Original limited edition prints are works of art created by an artist often in collaboration with a master printer. The print edition is personally signed and numbered by the artist.

Until the advent of digital technology, limited edition prints were defined by various techniques such as lithographs, screenprints and etchings, to name a few. Each technique had a built-in shelf life, meaning that the plate or the screen could print only a limited number of images before wearing out. The pulbic was therefore guaranteed by the very nature of the technique that there were in fact only the the number printed that the edition specified. Digital technology changed all of that because now we can print multiples of an edition and the technology never wears out. As a result, it becomes very important to buy from an accredited publisher and printer.
