Making Law

Trial lawyers have a lot of downtime in court. Simon Schneiderman could be found furiously scribbling in a small notepad. Everybody thought he was writing copious notes about the case while the other lawyers were shooting the shit. Well, his secret is out! Schneiderman was drawing the lawyers and judges, and writing captions about what he saw and heard, to while away the time.

When I came across one of Simon's little sketch books the publisher in me realized that I had found the modern day Daumier. Schneiderman was unwittingly creating the next 'Les Gens de Justice' series - a satirical inside look at the legal profession. I had to publish them.

Simon Schneiderman recently traded his lawyer’s robe for his beret and can be found in his studio full time. Simon tells stories thorugh painting and writing. His keen eye for observation, coupled with his skill at depicting nuance, catches people unawares as they shop, eat, work and play. Simon paints a little bit of all of us.
